Visit to the Autism Resource Open House

On Tuesday, April 29th, a few of our members paid a visit to the Fairfax County Family Resource Center's first-ever Autism Resource Open House! The event featured key speakers and provided support to parents in need. Overall, the experience was illuminating, and we hope to continue to attend similar events from the Family Resource Center!

Donations to Kent Gardens Elementary School

On Tuesday, April 8th, we dropped off small puzzles and autism booklets to show our appreciation for Kent Gardens Elementary School, which has provided huge support to us. The booklets were aimed to teach younger kids to be more accepting and respectful to neurodivergent peers. We hope the booklets will be able to promote open-mindedness and the puzzles can provide some fun for the kids at KGES!

Visit to Pedriatric Therapy Studio

On April 5th, we visited Pediatric Therapy Studio's brand-new facility in Tysons. To celebrate Autism Awareness Month, we baked two dozen cupcakes for the kids and donated a few puzzles. We are so happy that we have become familiar faces to many of the kids and staff, who appreciate our company.

In particular, one of the children made our day! With one volunteer's help, he meticulously completed a 5x5 piece Thomas the Train Engine puzzle. He got lots of applause and hugs as encouragement, as the staff had previously believed he was not at a level to complete jigsaw puzzles.

Visit to Brightview Senior Living

On Sunday, March 30th, we visited Brightview Senior Living, a beautiful senior center in Great Falls. While some of us called bingo for the seniors, others spoke with the seniors and learned more about their personal lives. One of the seniors spoke enthusiastically about job opportunities, proudly talking about his children's occupations. Afterward, we sang with a few seniors in the lounge. Many of them remembered the songs, including "America the Beautiful" and "When Johnny Comes Marching Home," from their childhoods.
